With fellow Aussie Ash Gentle coming away with the win on the day, it was Emma who provided the opportunity for the Aussie to make her way to the lead in the bike and dominate the run.
For Emma, this was her first Senior Elite World Championships and one she will never forget, working hard to do her part in making sure her and Gentle bridged up on the bike, it paid off big time knowing Gentle crossed the line in first place.
This effort was acknowledge by Gentle, saying:
“I had a good swim and thankfully I had a couple of Aussies around me, particularly Emma Jeffcoat who put in a big surge to get us up to the front group,” said Ashleigh Gentle after her blockbuster gold. “That made the difference because once I was there I knew that I had to play my cards smart..”
Well done Emma, great team effort for Australia.
