MORE FROM HAYDEN
With fellow Aussie Ash Gentle coming away with the win on the day, it was Emma who provided the opportunity for the Aussie to make her way to the lead in the bike and dominate the run.
For Emma, this was her first Senior Elite World Championships and one she will never forget, working hard to do her part in making sure her and Gentle bridged up on the bike, it paid off big time knowing Gentle crossed the line in first place.
This effort was acknowledge by Gentle, saying:
“I had a good swim and thankfully I had a couple of Aussies around me, particularly Emma Jeffcoat who put in a big surge to get us up to the front group,” said Ashleigh Gentle after her blockbuster gold. “That made the difference because once I was there I knew that I had to play my cards smart..”
Well done Emma, great team effort for Australia.

Extremely testing conditions saw a tough day of racing in Atlantic City, NJ.
Going into the swim in second place, Emma thrived in the challenging swim conditions to take the lead, which she extended over the bike and run from the Carolina Gliders.
As the final change came so too did the pouring rain. Copeland come down on the 180 degree turns, and also dropped his chain.
He was quick to regain his composure but was enough for the Gliders Tommy Zaferes to take the lead. The gap proved too much for Copeland to make up over the 1.6km run leg.
Emma, who is enjoying a successful season on the WTS circuit said: “Our Gold Coast Tritons team raced hard here in some very testing conditions for round one of the MLT series.
“I was excited to have an opportunity to chase as the third leg of our relay team, using the rough ocean swim conditions, windy ride and tough soft sand run to my advantage to get ahead and pull away a lead for the team. True tough racing, the best kind.’
